March is here… YUCK. We’ve officially made it to false spring, temps in the 40’s, the sun is shining, but soon the days will turn grey again and it sends everyone in the upper midwest into a slump.

Here are 3 easy ways to get yourself and your hair out fo your usual routine and liven things up a bit, all without needed a trip to the salon!

Switch your Part

This is a taboo topic right now with all the Gen Z-ers and Millennials arguing over what’s in and what’s out. While I don’t believe ANYONE should change their part because a 13 years old told them to, I do know that switching up your part is an easy, non-committal way to make a change (and way less daunting than a chop or hair color change!)

If you always wear a center part, try moving just the front section a bit off to the side. This will keep the weight distribution of your part more balanced and not so lop sided, but will give you a totally different look!

If you’re swapping from a side part to a middle part, PRO TIP: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO IT DRY. The best time to change your part is when hair is wet! After a shower, use your fingernail to put your new part in place. The weight from your damp hair will help it settle in better and make it stay!

Give it a Detox

With little to no sun exposure, dryness from indoor heating, and friction damage from our coats, our hair really takes a beating. Start off with a clean slate every time you wash by using a detoxifying shampoo! Products in the SOLU family will help break through hard water buildup, remove dulling dirt and oil, and set the foundation for shiny, healthy, happy hair.

Remember, detox and clarifying shampoos won’t strip color as long as they’re sulfate free! Try SOLU Shampoo if you have a normal scalp and wash more frequently, or try SOLU Sea Salt Scrub Cleanser if your scalp is extra oily or dry!

Mask up!

You might be tired of wearing a mask on your face everyday, but your hair is in DESPERATE need of some mask love! Masks are essential for hair hydration and health year round, but especially in the winter!

Add a mask to your wash-day regimen once a week and I promise your hair will be shiny, soft, and full of life again! MY current favorite is NOUNOU mask. It detangles my long, tick hair so easily and smells like summery heaven, AKA exactly what I need to pull me out of this winter slump! If you need a shine boost, try The Spotlight Circle! It’s an oil-infused hydrating mask that refracts light, giving your hair a major pick me up in just 10 minutes.

We’re almost through the winter, we’ve made it this far! Remember to take care of yourself, your health, and your hair!
