Any avid air driers out there? Join the club! If I could tell everyone to throw their blow dryer away I totally would. I just think its becoming the prerogative of the modern woman to ditch their driers and instead, opt for a good ol’ air dry. However, for most people air dry = flat hair. A blow dryer is a great tool for expanding your hair’s cuticle to create texture and volume, but you can also create extreme heat damage and mechanical breakage!

My secret trick for a voluminous air dry is easier than you think! First, wash and condition your hair. Detangle and apply your favorite leave in conditioner and whatever other products you love (if any). Then, instead of putting in your part in its normal spot, flip it to the other side!

It might feel odd at first and take a minute to get used to, but even changing your part for 30 minutes or so after a fresh wash can add major volume and lift to an otherwise lifeless style. When your roots dry bent in the opposite direction, they’ll lay a little more lifted when you bring them back to home base.

For middle parts, try moving your part back and fourth few times. Start with it parted on the left, then after 15 or 20 minutes, change it to the other side! After an hour or so, put your part in the middle when it normally hangs out. You’ll get a little volume boost without the heat damage!

Extra points if you mist in a little VOLU Hair Mist before hand. VOLU mist helps support your strands so they stay lifted for longer! It’s super touchable though, so don’t worry about it getting crispy!
